___ Clear identification of the topic and its relevant historical and cultural contest

 THESIS AND STRUCTURE (30 points):

___Thesis clearly, concisely states paper’s purpose in single, engaging sentence

___Body paragraphs support the thesis with one idea each

___Supporting paragraphs pursue thesis consistently

___Textual evidence, including quotes and supporting examples are strong and clear

___Appropriate use of transitional words and attributive tags

___In-text citations are cited correctly and given proper attributes with no evidence of dropped

quotes

CONCLUSION (20)

___Conclusion restates a version of the thesis

___ Proof of suggestion of what the broader implications of your analysis might be

 

ANALYSIS AND POP CULTURE (15 points):

___Proof of an analytical claim that explains how/why your popular cultural text works

___Proof of clear primary text/source and supporting secondary sources

___Analysis addresses how popular culture text represent subject’s attempt to critique, celebrate, or

change some aspect of the society in which it appears

 

 

 LANGUAGE AND STYLE (20 Points)

___Most sentences are clear and can be understood the first time they are read

___Syntax, punctuation, and spelling used effectively in service of rhetorical purpose

___Proper use of MLA with title, margins, general formatting

___Works Cited Page free of errors, including formatting, copy/paste, and mismatched font
